Global Mineral Processing Specialist, Magotteaux

Chris has worked within the mining industry in a variety of roles from operator and shift foreman at the Teutonic Bore Copper/Zinc Mine to Principal Consultant with Mineralis, over the last 46 years. He is a metallurgical engineer with a PhD in Flotation Chemistry and has been an AusIMM member for over 39 years.

Chris has supported professional development and standards through mentoring programs, written technical articles for the Bulletin, giving presentations and authored many papers for AusIMM conferences, as well as editing the first and second editions of the AusIMM publication Flotation Plant Optimisation. In 2024 Chris delivered the Metallurgical Society G D Delprat Distinguished Lecture Series across the country – in major cities and key regional centers.

Chris brings extensive experience gained from working within operations (Ok Tedi, Mount Isa Mines and Pasminco), research (Ian Wark research Institute of the University of South Australia), and the METS sector with Magotteaux. His global experience has given him an understanding of the state of the sector and what the AusIMM could do to assist the future workforce in their professional and personal development.
