A leadership role is not simply being on a Committee. A leadership role constitutes being, for example, Chair or Vice Chair of an AusIMM Community of Interest (COI) and a driving force with COI events or publications.

This is defined as a business or organisation that has its rights and liabilities separate from those of the individuals involved. It would be considered that you are a Director of a substantial corporate/not-for-profit, if you have been responsible for key activities or departments of an organisation, with an oversight of the affairs of the business.

Recognised professional bodies foster professional learning and development, and seek to enhance the status of their professionals. For the purpose of AusIMM elections, a recognised professional body must be a member association within the Global Mineral Professionals Alliance (GMPA). Established in 2011, the GMPA is a collaboration between the peak NFP member associations for minerals professionals around the world, providing leadership, promoting technical and professional excellence, upholding codes and standards, and providing opportunities for knowledge sharing.
