Supporting mining education in Ghana

The AusIMM Tarkwa Scholarships are a joint initiative to support those studying mining at the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, Ghana.

The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) is pleased to announce the award of two scholarships worth AUD$750 per beneficiary towards educational costs at the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa.
 
The AusIMM Tarkwa scholarships have been instigated by Biernacki and Elvish Enterprises Pty Ltd and the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, Ghana. The AusIMM assist in receiving applications from students studying mining at the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, Ghana and arranging payment once winners have been announced.
 
The scholarship provides funding to assist in paying the tuition fees of the recipients, with any remaining funds being supplied to the winners for personal uses such as purchasing books and education supplies.
 
Submissions are limited to a maximum of 2000 words on a topic of personal choice within the enrolled field of study. This together with evidence of the requisite CWA.
 
Previous recipients of this award are unable to make a further submission.

Prospective applicants must satisfy the following eligibility requirements:

  • Hold a minimum CWA of 55%.
  • Be a current student member of the AusIMM.
  • Be able to demonstrate good writing and research skills.
  • Hold a current enrolment in at least the second year of a mining industry related degree course in the 2018/19 Academic Year.
