Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Advisory Council
AusIMM has for many decades been involved in advancing environmental and social responsibility mining principles, practice and education.
Following a 2019 AusIMM Social Licence to Operate Forum, an Environmental Social Governance and Social Responsibility (ESG-SR) Committee was formed and in 2023 this became AusIMM’s ESG Advisory Council.
A key outcome of the 2019 Forum was the development of the AusIMM Social Responsibility Framework, including within it the AusIMM Social Responsibility Statement and Social Performance Chartered Professional Program.
The ESG Advisory Council, AusIMM management team, and AusIMM’s Social and Environment Society are all involved in work to:
- Lead development of professional standards for excellence in social responsibility and performance
- Advise on areas of practice and competency indicators for the Social Performance Chartered Professional Program
- Create opportunities for members to contribute to the development and deployment of the Social Responsibility Framework
- Support AusIMM advocacy on social responsibility and performance, in line with Our Advocacy Framework
