We are proud to announce this year’s recipient for the Epiroc Women in Mining Scholarship has been awarded to Jacqueline Harding.

Jacqueline is a student at the University of Western Australia (UWA) and is currently completing her final year in Masters of Professional Engineering, specialising in Mining. She completed her Bachelor of Science in 2021 majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Economics. Jaqcueline made the switch to Mining after getting involved with the AusIMM UWA Student Chapter, where she was able to further her understanding of the resources industry and how she could apply her technical and economics knowledge.

Jacqueline completed a vacation program with Rio Tinto in 2021/22, where she continued to work as an intern with Explosives and Dangerous Goods throughout the semester. She plans to complete a second summer on-site following her exams. Her goal is to work towards a Quarry Manager certificate in her early career.

Whilst completing her degree, she has worked in a range of jobs including organising and instructing sailing courses at the Claremont Yacht Club, developing and instructing STEM courses for the Gifted and Talented Children’s Association with her sister Lauren Harding, Asset Management for the Town of Cambridge, and working as a Skipper for ‘Five Short Blasts’, an indigenous story time experience through the medium of radio communication. Jacqueline has also been actively involved in various executive committees at university including the AusIMM Student Chapter where she has been Treasurer and Media Coordinator, the Science Union, and the University Engineers’ Club.

Jacqueline is a hard worker and welcomes opportunities to broaden her career horizon in the resources and mining industry. She is especially interested in new automation technologies and the ability to increase personnel safety, production efficiency, and access to operational data.

Congratulations Jacqueline Harding, we are thrilled to have you as our inaugural Epiroc Women in Mining Ambassador and look forward to seeing you succeed in your mining career and become a leader of change.
