AusIMM members are in more than 100 countries around the world, with nearly a quarter based outside of Australia and New Zealand. The main countries our international members reside in include the USA, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Ghana, South Africa, UK, Indonesia, China and India.

AusIMM aims to:

  • Advance international mining best practice.
  • Support AusIMM’s international members and communities.
  • Position AusIMM as a leader in the international mining community.

Key initiatives include:

  • Development of conferences, online training and other professional development to ensure accessibility for all members wherever they are situated in the world.
  • Strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations in key regions around the world.
  • Active involvement in the Global Mineral Professionals Alliance (GMPA) to advance the pursuit and continuing development of best practice professionalism in the minerals industries around the world.

Global Mineral Professionals Alliance

Global Mineral Professionals Alliance (GMPA) is an agreement encompassing the peak minerals bodies from Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa, USA and Peru. GMPA facilitates the exchange of knowledge and technology, promoting technical and professional excellence and provides opportunities for business networking, shared education, and professional development for members. The GMPA is an opportunity to share information and benchmark initiatives globally.

Global Mining Association of China

AusIMM and the Global Mining Association of China (GMAC) have a strategic partnership to boost excellence in the resources industry. GMAC is the representative body for companies and individuals within the international mining community in China. The partnership paves the way for Chinese resources professionals to access networking opportunities, access to key industry events and world-class seminars and training.

Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum

The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) is the leading not-for-profit technical society of professionals in the Canadian minerals, metals, materials and energy industries.

Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining

The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is a major UK science and engineering institution and a registered charity governed by a Royal Charter. IOM3 supports professionals in materials, minerals, mining and associated technical disciplines.

Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas de Chile

The IIMCH is a Private Law Corporation that does not pursue trade union or profit purposes. It was founded in Santiago on September 29, 1930 and its action supports it in technical and academic matters. It brings together the Civil Engineers of Mines, Metallurgists, Geologists and Civil Engineers of other specialties that work in the mining, metal, non-metallic, beneficiary plants, refineries and foundries.

Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas del Peru

The IIMP is a not for profit association that has for 66 years had the mission of contributing to professional development by informing those directly involved and society in general of mining technology, the diverse topics relating to the sector, and best operating practices.

South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy

The SAIMM is a professional institute with local and international links aimed at assisting members source information about technological developments in the mining, metallurgical and related sectors.

Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration

SME serves the mining, resources and underground construction communities for a sustainable future. SME is a member society of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers, Inc. (AIME).

West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum

The West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM) is a voluntary, non-governmental organization incorporated under the laws of Ghana with the aim of enhancing professionalism in the mining and petroleum industry across West Africa and beyond.
