The Future of Coal
Please join the AusIMM Hunter Valley Branch and MEC Mining in the Hunter Valley on Wednesday, 16 February for an industry networking event to discuss the Future of Coal.
About this event
Overall coal demand worldwide – including uses beyond power generation, such as cement and steel production – has increased by 6% in 2021. Depending on weather patterns and economic growth, overall coal demand could reach new all-time highs during 2022 and remain at that level for the following two years. (Report from www.iea.org). But what will the long-term future look like?
Join the discussion, facilitated by MEC Mining's Business Development Manager, Loren Ager and hear insights from the panel of mining leaders:
- Erin Sweeney, MEC Mining
- Hennie du Plooy, Port Waratah Coal Services, Chair AusIMM Hunter Branch
- Kim Nguyen, Core Mine Training Industry Representative (TBC)
Our panellists will explore and provide insights into:
- What does the coal industry look like currently?
- What are the career opportunities to transition into after coal?
- What are the skills required to work in the coal industry?
- What are the skills of the future for the coal industry?
Drinks and canapes are included.
We look forward to your company.
