About this event
Come along and catch up with your colleagues and peers, and make new connections with others involved in all aspects of the minerals sector.
This time around Bruce Harvey (Hons), MBA, Director, Resolution88 Pty Ltd., will give a presentation entitled “Geology, Sociology and Camel Safety”. This talk is an insightful, informative and entertaining talk that explores social performance in the extractive sector.
“In the 21st Century, resource explorers when selecting targets need to be competent in social geography and engagement, and miners need to manage resource development and operations in a way that accrues broad-based social acceptance and trust. This is often referred to as ‘Social License to Operate’ and is best earned by consistent, measurable and demonstrated social performance.
In the past 40 years, greatly improved workplace health and safety performance, involving social science insights and systemic good management, has been key in earning workplace trust. The same thinking, linking comparative business advantage (e.g. safety) to an understanding of social context (e.g. camels), is the key to improving social performance and ‘Social License to Operate’.”
