Gold Placers and Structural Complexity: Otago, New Zealand and Witwatersrand, South Africa
Join the New Zealand Branch for a tech talk - Gold Placers and Structural Complexity: Otago, New Zealand and Witwatersrand, South Africa.
About this event
The Witwatersrand is one of the most famous gold mining areas in the world, having produced more than 1,300Moz of gold from some of the deepest mines in the world. The gold in the Witwatersrand has been interpreted, for the last 100 years or more, as being deposited by fluvial process into the Witwatersrand Basin.
In this tech talk, Julian Vearncombe, retired Principal Consultant, and Dave Craw, Emeritus Professor, will summarise previous research on the Witwatersrand and outline an alternative gold mineralisation model. Exciting information for all the geologists out there!
