Modern surgeons rely on a variety of imaging techniques to ensure that surgery is completed efficiently and with as little risk as possible. Similar technologies are available to ensure the same outcome for mining and exploration with the clarity and useability of these images is advancing at a rapid rate.

Active seismic surveys currently provide the highest resolution images obtainable at a mining scale. Our speaker, Dr Greg Turner, will show examples of how these images have been used to guide decisions at Lynas’s Mt Weld deposit.

Greg has worked on seismic projects at over a hundred mineral deposits throughout the world and gets a kick out of the new insights seismic data provides even after many of years of prior exploration and mining. He has been at HiSeis for 11 years. Prior to that he was co-founder of a successful geophysical consultancy and contracting company and was Geoscience Manager for WMC’s Technology Group.
