Join the South West WA Branch for their Albemarle Kemerton Li-Hydroxide Plant Tour and Distinguished Lecture: Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels by Peter Lane.

About this event

Plant Tour

We will visit Albemarle's Kemerton manufacturing plant operations site located ~20kms north of Bunbury, where we will observe the plant facilities from a coach-guided tour (Note – there will be no walking component within the plant area).

Albemarle is the country's largest lithium producer and manufacturer with its Lithium Hydroxide Processing Plant located at Kemerton, near Bunbury in the South West of Western Australia.

The construction, operations and expansion of Kemerton have established a new advanced manufacturing industry in WA’s South West and boosted the local and State economies.

Albemarle's Kemerton manufacturing plant produces technical and battery-grade lithium hydroxide for use in energy storage and other industrial applications.

Albemarle in Australia has also invested in joint venture resource partnerships focused on securing high quality lithium for the global market.

Distinguished Lecture: Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels by Peter Lane

Widely held views about energy, the ways we get it and use it, are often contrary to what is revealed by statistics and facts.

Many unpalatable truths are ignored in deriving national and global policies and how certain goals could be achieved is simply not addressed.

This presentation will look at the realities of producing and burning fossil fuels and some of the challenges of replacing them with alternatives.
