About this event

Join us for this first in our Masterclass series to support tertiary students and others gain insights into the minerals industry and opportunities for careers, guide transitions as well as network with industry members.

In this opening session, we will provide background and basics on the industry, both now and what we see in the future, as well as have a panel of industry leaders in different sectors to gain their insights and ensure that your questions are answered.

Lucy McClean is a passionate advocate and leader in the resources industry, first starting over 25 years ago in a resources exploration company. Over her career, Lucy has been a pioneer in ESG (environment, social/community, governance), champion of diversity and inclusion and has had extensive experience in advocacy, policy and strategy across multiple sectors in energy and resources.

Working across government, industry and community, she has expansive national and international connections. Lucy has initiated, led and delivered important industry benchmark documentation and strategic advice. She has been the voice for industry and has been solving problems, contributing to strategy and providing advice for decades.

Lucy received international recognition in 2022 as one of ‘100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining’ (WIM100) and in 2023 she was named as Inclusion and Diversity Champion in the Australian National Women in Resources Awards and the NSW Women in Mining Awards.

Lucy is Immediate Past Chair of Women in Mining NSW (WIMnet NSW) and has experience across Ministerial and Government Advisory boards.
