About this event

Celebrate the achievements of women at AusIMM's International Women's Day WIMnet Tasmania event.

The AusIMM Women in Mining Network Tasmania (WIMnet TAS), in collaboration with the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council (TMEC), is proud to host the annual Tasmanian International Women’s Day event.

This year, the event will feature a brunch meal at the Paranaple Centre, Devonport. The gathering will mark the launch of the 2025 Women in Resources and Manufacturing Tasmania Awards, as well as feature opportunities to network, hear from inspirational speakers, and celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in Tasmania's mining, manufacturing, energy and resource industries.

Join us as we recognise and honour the contributions of women driving innovation and progress in these fields.

Christine Winskill

Community Relations Advisor – Projects (MMG Rosebery) / Dual Winner of 2024 Women in Mining and Manufacturing Tasmania Awards
Chris Winskill has more than 40 years’ experience in the mining industry, beginning her career as a junior typist at Rosebery Mine.
Over the past 4 decades, Chris has worked in various roles across Human Resources including Recruitment, Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation of injured workers, as well as Stakeholder Relations.
She is currently the Community Relations Advisor at Rosebery Mine, with a focus on engagement with the local community for future planning and major projects.
Chris has delivered significant projects across her local community that recognise the historical significance of mining in Rosebery. She was responsible for successfully opening the first community liaison office in town and launching a free fruit program in local schools.
She was a joint winner of the Exceptional Woman in Tasmanian Resources Award at the Women in Resources and Manufacturing Tasmania Awards in 2024.

Kate Barnard

HSEC Coordinator – Liberty GFG / Joint Winner of the Exceptional Woman in Tasmanian Manufacturing Award 2024
Kate has held a variety of roles since commencing with TEMCO 16 years ago. Kate’s goal is to continue leveraging her leadership skills and experience to drive positive change within Liberty GFG, ensuring that the health centre remains a pillar of support and care for all employees.
A joint winner of the Exceptional Woman in Tasmanian Manufacturing at the Women in Resources and Manufacturing Tasmania Awards in 2024.

Leita Patten

Mine Manager –Cement Australia / Dual Winner of 2024 Women in Mining and Manufacturing Tasmania Awards
Leita Patten is the Mine Manager at Cement Australia’s Railton mine and if you ask her Mum, she’s been a geologist since the day she could walk, always picking up rocks. After completing a Bachelor of Applied Science she followed a career path into the resources sector, going on to complete a Masters of Mining Engineering. Leita has worked tirelessly to achieve her goal of becoming a Mine Manager, operating by the philosophy that you can be a strong manager and still be compassionate, kind, and considerate.
