Building an Inclusive Future: Why We Can’t Drive Positive Change Alone
Building on last year’s impactful theme, we’re excited to bring back Driving Positive Change Together as the theme for AusIMM’s 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD) Event Series.
In a complex and vital industry like mining, fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) requires collective effort. We're here to unite our global community around making DEI a priority by sharing strategies that work, celebrating successes, and supporting each other in building a truly inclusive resources sector from the people and organisations who are committed to creating change for future generations.
Why Are We Driving Positive Change?
Real change in DEI demands collaboration. No single person, team, or organisation can tackle every DEI challenge alone. Different organisations focus on diverse priorities—whether it’s LGBTQIA+ inclusion, accessibility for disabilities, support for families, addressing sexual harassment, or achieving gender equality. By coming together and sharing what works, we can uplift the entire industry and create a space where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and learn from one another.
What to Expect
Get ready for an inspiring program filled with real stories, practical strategies, and collaborative efforts to make a difference. Our 2025 Series Ambassadors will lead the charge with their expertise and personal experiences. They’ll share insights into their DEI journeys, achievements, and the ways they’re championing inclusivity in their organisations. This year’s series promises thought-provoking conversations and actionable ideas to carry forward.
Hearing from Real Women on the Ground
In addition to our Ambassadors, we’re thrilled to celebrate the diverse women in mining, from on-the-ground workers to technical experts and researchers. These remarkable individuals will share a glimpse into their unique challenges, accomplishments, and their commitment to creating a more inclusive industry.
