Brooke Adamson

Ore Processing Manager - Final Product, Newmont
Brooke’s career in the resource sector reflects her commitment to both industry advancement and community impact. While earning a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) from the University of Queensland, Brooke began as a vacation student at Newcrest in 2007. She rapidly progressed to managing significant projects, including the $45 million Jameson Cell and flotation circuits at Telfer and leading a recovery improvement program. Her innovations, such as Jameson Cell grade control logic, have delivered substantial benefits across multiple sites.

Currently, Brooke is the Ore Processing Manager at Newmont Corporation, overseeing Australia’s only molybdenum processing plant at Cadia. Under her leadership, the plant has doubled molybdenum recovery without compromising safety, maintaining a zero record for serious incidents. Brooke is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, having pioneered roles for women in various technical areas and fostering a diverse, inclusive team culture.

Balancing her professional achievements with personal commitments, Brooke is a dedicated single mother and a role model for flexible work practices. She emphasises that true success integrates professional excellence with respect and support for people, both at work and at home.

Teams that leverage diversity and empower each other are the most successful teams. Sustainable change isn’t achieved solely by systems and policies, it requires passionate diversity advocates and allies at all levels of the organisation to create an inclusive culture where individuals feel like they belong and can bring their whole selves to work.

We're back in 2025!

Global Head of Technical Portfolio, BHP & Global lead for Jasper

Power and privilege demand responsibility - not just to lead, but to advocate, sponsor, and uplift those whose voices often go unheard. By helping others rise, we strengthen the collective, and the rewards far surpass the effort. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.

Odette Patterson

Group Manager, Workforce Resourcing & Recruitment, Whitehaven Coal

Paramount to positive change is having the conversation. Demonstrating the courage to lead the conversation whilst creating environments that unlock diverse voices to be heard. Empowering others to disrupt their norm will inspire others to value and understand women’s participation and provide equal opportunities.
