Kerry Turnock

Biography

Kerry Turnock is the Global Practice Lead Resource Knowledge with BHP’s Resource Centre of Excellence and is responsible for the transformational characterisation of in-situ and transformed rock mass at all stages of a deposit’s life cycle with front end loading of geoscience knowledge for superior decisions. Kerry has 30 years of resource sector experience spanning geoscientific, operational, technical marketing and technology disciplines. This multidisciplinary experience underpins Kerry’s ability to understand the value of geoscientific inputs for organisational decisions across the value chain, ranging from grass roots exploration, mining and processing, to the end customer and through to closure. She has a proven track record of successfully delivering break-through projects with functioning solutions that have resulted in realised benefits from resource identification through to improved mining practices. Kerry holds a Masters in geology from Monash University.

Geoscience – Are we transition future fit?

As the iron and steel industry continues to advance its transition to a green future, it is important the transition implications are accounted for across the entire supply chain. This includes understanding, evaluating and preparing for what the transition means to geoscience and similarly how iron ore geoscience knowledge can help accelerate the transition to ensure a future fit tomorrow.
