A fresh perspective: Top five rated author gives his abstract tips

1. Congratulations on being among the top five rated authors at #MWT2023! What did this mean for your career?
This recognition, although unexpected, was a pleasant surprise. It hasn't had a direct impact on my career, but it certainly motivates me to continue contributing to the field.
2. What would you say to an industry professional or academic thinking about submitting an abstract for the Life of Mine | Mine Waste and Tailings Conference 2025?
Attending the conference was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with old colleagues and meet new professionals who share similar interests. It's a valuable platform for networking and exchanging ideas, which can lead to future collaborations and professional growth.
3. Are there any abstract writing tips that you would you share with this group?
I recommend focusing on originality. Present something new and different, rather than a project or topic that has been seen multiple times. Offer a fresh perspective or explore a new research topic, even if it includes open questions. This approach can capture the audience's interest and spark engaging discussions.

The impact on my career was relatively small, but the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Presenting at the conference allowed me to share my work with a wider audience and receive valuable feedback.
5. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience?
The quality of the organisation and the event was exceptional. From the venue to the food and the dinner, everything was well-planned. The atmosphere was welcoming, and everyone was friendly and willing to help, making it a memorable experience.
