Introducing Our Keynote Speakers for the 16th Mill Operators Conference
AusIMM is proud to announce the 16th iteration of the Mill Operators Conference, set to take place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 21-23 October 2024.
This years conference will feature a comprehensive three-day program, highlighting presentations from some of the industry's brightest minds. Delegates can look forward to a range of presentations showcasing shareable outcomes, best practices, and specific case studies on new technologies and innovations within mill operations, all organised under these key themes.
The selection process for accepted paper spots was highly competitive, ensuring high-quality content for all attendees. Presentations will be limited to single sessions, allowing ample time for discussion at the conclusion of each session.
In line with our commitment to bringing together the best and brightest in the field, we are thrilled to introduce our keynote speakers. These distinguished leaders will provide invaluable insights and expertise, setting the tone for an inspiring and informative conference:
Mark Adams FAusIMM, Principal Consultant
Educated in the UK with a BSc (1st Class Honours) in Mining Engineering and an MSc in Mineral Exploration, Mark commenced his mining career in 1977 at Chingola in Zambia. His extensive career spans multiple continents and various senior roles. In Australia, he spent thirteen years with Mount Isa Mines, and held leadership roles with BHP World Minerals’ Cannington Project, Sons of Gwalia, WMCR Nickel, Iluka Resources, Barminco, and MMG. More recently, he contributed to Newcrest Mining at Gosowong, Telfer, and the Canadian Red Chris open pit operation.
Since retiring in 2021, Mark has worked as a consultant on numerous business recovery programs. His focus over the last twenty-five years has been on sustained safety transformation, business improvement focusing on margin enhancement across the value chain, and cultural change. Mark is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), has served as one of the two Deputy Chairs of the AusIMM’s Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC), and has been a Board member of the Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG) for many years.
Katherin Domansky, Commercial Leader in Energy Transition
Katherin is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the energy and resources sector. She has held senior roles in global companies including Shell, BHP, and Woodside, with a reputation for negotiating complex energy projects. Her deep understanding of the challenges faced by companies in the energy transition, combined with her practical approach to finding solutions, makes her a valuable leader in this field.
Katherin is currently a director at Synergy, serves on the steering committee of the Net Zero Australia project, and is a board member of the Curtin Institute of Energy Transition.
