Reg Radford MAusIMM


Reg, a native of Kojonup, WA, boasts a remarkable career spanning over 25 years in the metallurgy and gold mining industry. 

From humble beginnings on a farm, Reg's journey led him to study Chemistry and Extractive Metallurgy at Murdoch University. Embarking on his career as a Vacation Student at the Telfer Gold Mine in 1997 he has since held key roles at various gold operations across Australia and currently serves as the Principal Specialist Metallurgy for Gold Fields overseeing the Agnew, StIves, Granny Smith and Gruyere processing operations. Consistently championing the training of Graduate, Plant and Senior Metallurgists, promoting back-to-basics principles while driving innovation and in the field.

Outside of his professional endeavours, Reg is known for bringing a sense of fun to the workplace. He resides in Albany, Western Australia, with his wife Julie and their three daughters. Reg's journey reflects his unwavering commitment, expertise, and his remarkable ability to inspire and improve operations. His question, "What's the Worst That Could Happen?" continues to guide his path as he paves the way for a brighter future in the metallurgy and gold mining industry.

Since its inception in 1978, the Mill Operators Conference has grown from a regional event in Mount Isa to a global gathering, now in its 16th iteration.

Celebrating 46 years, it has become a key platform for advancing the minerals processing industry, attracting over 600 professionals from around the world, including metallurgists, geometallurgists, engineers, executives, and industry leaders, to share knowledge, innovations, and best practices.
