Bruce Harvey

FAusIMM(CP), Social Performance Consultant

Bruce has over 40 years of worldwide field experience in the resources industry. In his early career as a geologist Bruce developed an affinity for working with land-connected peoples and for 25 years Bruce has been at the forefront of developing social performance as a professional discipline and value contributor in the extractive sector. For seven years Bruce was Global Practice Leader Communities and Social Performance at Rio Tinto and continues to advise clients on social performance and ESG management systems and development consent agreements.

Bruce is an Adjunct Professor at the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland, and a Guest Lecturer delivering ‘ESG - Leading Sustainable Enterprises’ at the University of Otago (NZ) MBA School. He is the Chair of the AusIMM ESG-Social Responsibility Committee and had a lead role in developing the Institute’s ESG-aligned ‘Social Responsibility Framework’ and Chartered Professional criteria for Social Performance practitioners. In 2021 he developed and delivered the in augural AusIMM ESG and Social Responsibility Professional Certificate Course.
