Matthew Holcz

Managing Director, Pilbara Mines, Rio Tinto 

Matthew was appointed Managing Director, Pilbara Mines in October 2020. In his role, Matthew has accountability for the safe operation of 17 Mines across the Pilbara. Prior to this, Matthew was Managing Director Planning Integration & Assets.

Matthew has been with Rio Tinto for fifteen years. In his previous roles, Matthew has led large teams in operational, commercial and projects roles.  Matthew has lived and worked in three different continents, with exposure across multiple commodities, including iron ore, copper, nickel and coal.

Matthew graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce. Matthew is also a graduate from the Advanced Management Program at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
