AusIMM contributes to Australia’s National Resources Workforce Strategy

A sustainable talent pipeline is critical for the resources sector, the professionals working within it, and the continuing contributions we make to our communities.

Throughout 2020, AusIMM was pleased to work with the Federal Government on the development of Australia’s National Resources Workforce Strategy, which was released on 18 February 2021.

The strategy outlines measures in the three key areas of opportunity, participation and quality, including ways the Government and resources sector are:

  • working to plan for job creation and skills demand
  • supporting local employment, particularly in regional communities
  • providing opportunities, particularly for women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to engage with resources careers
  • increasing the availability of resources-related training.

The launch of this strategy points to the clear recognition – shared by AusIMM and the Australian Government – that a sustainable and highly-skilled future workforce is critical for the resources industry, people in resources, and the ongoing contributions we make to our community.

We encourage members to review Australia’s National Resources Workforce Strategy, which is available here.
