AusIMM Southern Queensland Members Update: Branch Rules, Nominations and Annual Meeting

Dear Southern Queensland Branch Member,

We are rapidly approaching the end of our year, and I am writing to loop you into three upcoming opportunities to have your say and get involved with the Southern Queensland Branch: 

• A vote to ratify the updated Branch rules
• Nominations for the 2025 Southern Queensland Branch Committee
• Our Southern Queensland Branch Annual Meeting and St. Barbara’s Day drinks

Updates to the Branch Rules 

This year our Branch members have prepared an update of the Branch Rules defining how our Branch operates. The existing Branch Rules were provided by AusIMM in 2016 as a general set of rules for running an AusIMM Branch and this update will keep the rules relevant and will better align with our current practices.

The update has endorsement from the AusIMM, and we now require our members to ratify the changes. We are holding a Branch Meeting to ratify the updated rules on 21 November at 5:15pm at the Transcontinental Hotel, 482 George St, Brisbane City. Our technical meeting, Battery Metals: Extraction and Preparation, will run straight after the vote and you are welcome to attend. The updated Branch Rules can be found here.

Seeking Nominations For 2025 

The Branch Committee are volunteers who donate their time in support of our Branch members and the AusIMM. We organise and run professional development and networking events in your area, support and assist with accreditation, awards & recognition, access to industry knowledge, advocacy, and career development for our members. We provide support for the major AusIMM events in and around Brisbane, and we support the student chapter and student events.

We are now seeking nominations for the 2025 Southern Queensland Branch Committee, and we encourage everyone who can donate their time and skills to consider nominating.

Save the date for the 2024 Annual Meeting and St Barbaras Day networking drinks  

Please save the date for our Annual Meeting and Saint Barbara's Day End of Year networking drinks on 4 December from 5pm at the Pav Bar 262 Margaret St, Brisbane City.

Tickets will be available shortly via a link in a separate AusIMM email. The 2025 committee will be announced on the night.
