The AusIMM had a long and celebrated history of publishing geoscience / mining publications in the “Proceedings”, and with articles of a more general nature in the Bulletin. The Geoscience society, along with other AusIMM societies and branches continue to encourage the sciences of geology, mining & metallurgy to be available to the public. The AusIMM web site provides free access to members (not free to Associates) to a number of “Transaction Journals” and other collections of technical papers. Apparently, some of the older publications are yet to be posted on the web site. Google searches can find many AusIMM scientific papers related to AusIMM publications. AusIMM members have a long history of accessing a number of international journals. A few well-known international journals are;

SEG – the American based Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) can be found at https://www.segweb.org The quarterly publication of “Economic Geology” and the quarterly SEG Discovery newsletter are the cornerstone of many geoscience publications. There are some free issues, and free abstracts.

AGU- The American Geoscience Journal (AJU) can be found at; https://www.agu.org with segments on AGU Journals – ground breaking journals in open access and subscription models, Latest Science – information in earth and space science, and AGU channels – topics of science interest.

BGS / LGS – British Geological Survey (BGS) has free access to many publications, see; https://webapps.bgs.ac.uk/data/publications while the London Geological Society (LGS) has free abstract viewing of numerous geological books. https://www.geolsoc.org.uk/publications

SAJG – The South African Journal of Geology (SAJG) can be found at https://pubs.geoscienceworld.org/sajg The present issue No 127 number 2 of June 2024 includes such free articles as “Does water transparency control the banding in shallow water iron formations?”

Articles from Jun Cowan, Brett Davis, Ron Reid and others originally published on the old Orefind website, can now be found at https://structuralgeology.com/blog/
