Hunter Region Branch December 2024 Vice Chair Update
Dear Hunter Region Branch members,
2024 has been a busy and productive year for our Branch. The highlight of our annual technical programme, the Jameson Lecture, was successfully conducted by Professor Kevin Galvin of Newcastle University in October. A group of AusIMM members and guests were enthralled by Prof. Galvin’s insights into processing technology that is being developed right here in Newcastle!
Our very active Student Chapter have achieved extraordinary things in 2024 under the leadership group headed by President Sophie Gillogly. A group of students attended the AusIMM New Leaders Conference and Mining Games in Brisbane and represented our region with pride. They conducted numerous successful events throughout 2024 and recruited large numbers of enthusiastic new members. Welcome to all our new Student Members and congratulations to our students on a massive 2024!
The Committee are in the planning phase for the technical programme in 2025. We will be sharing more information about these events in early 2025. The highlights will be field trips, The Jameson Lecture and Distinguished Lectures.
Thank you to all of our hard working committee members and to all of our wider membership community for engaging with the Institute in 2024, whether it be in the local technical programme, reading the Bulletin or completing an online course.
Call for 2025 committee members
The Hunter Region Branch committee is calling for new committee members in 2025. Being a committee member is very rewarding experience; the more you put in, the more you get out!
