Hunter Region Branch July 2024 Chair Update

· 215 words, 2 mins

Dear Hunter Branch members,

It is hard to believe that we are already in the second half of the year. In this newsletter you will find a report on a very interesting Branch visit to Infrabuild’s wire facilities in Newcastle, and importantly, the details of two significant events coming up.

The first is our annual visit to Armidale, where we engage with students at the University of New England.  This is a longstanding event that has grown in importance in recent years as the Hunter Region Student Chapter has formally expanded to include UNE.

And then I am very pleased that we are now able to make available details of our plans for the Jameson Distinguished Lecture for 2024. We are honoured to be able to welcome Laureate Professor Kevin Galvin of the University of Newcastle to present this year’s lecture on “ A new paradigm for Minerals Processing – The Future is Innovation” 23 October 2024.

As always I invite you to engage directly with me and your Committee through the email address hunter@ausimm.com.au. Your input and thoughts will be especially valuable as we prepare for the annual AUSIMM Congress, which will this year be held in Perth on 17 and 18 October.

Best wishes and kind regards,
Hennie du Plooy
Chair AusIMM Hunter Region Branch
