RFP – Future Workforce; GSNZ Conference; Placer Workshop 2020
The New Zealand Branch Committee are excited to announce three new initiatives:
1) We are seeking expressions of interest which will lead to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for engagement with NZ university students around our Future Workforce. You can download the RFP document here. Expressions of interest are required prior to submission of an RFP; the RFP is due by 5pm 25 September 2020.
2) We will be chairing a session called Mineral Deposits: Geology, Exploration and Resources at the Geoscience Society of New Zealand (GNSZ) Annual Conference 2020 to be held in Christchurch from 22 – 25 November 2020. We invite you to submit an abstract: https://confer.eventsair.com/gsnz2020/call-for-abstracts
3) We are planning a one day workshop on placer mineralisation (e.g. garnets, ironsand, alluvial gold) to run immediately after the GSNZ conference on Thursday 26 November in Christchurch. If you are interested in contributing to this workshop, or have suggestions for content please contact me (details below).
After a year interrupted by COVID, the Minerals Forum is seven weeks away and will be followed by the GSNZ conference and then the placer workshop. We intend to repurpose the extensive visiting lecturer programme that we had lined up for 2020 into 2021, and we look forward to seeing you at the various events that have been planned for the remainder of the year.
Kind regards,
Michael Gazley, MAusIMM
