The Cairns Mining Roundup has been running since 2008, and is a summary of current exploration, mining and other activities in the Far North.
The opening will be by Hon Rob Katter, Member for Traeger which covers a large part of the North Queensland mining areas.
This targets a range of companies private and public with new starts pending at Dover Castle, Brilliant Brumby, and Woolgar.
There are presentations showing advances in exploration and mining by Malacho Leichardt, a restart of the old Black Jack Mill at Charters Towers by Maroon Gold, a pending IPO at Tartana and new exploration results from Alice River, and Newmont in the Chillagoe areas.
An update on the Iron Boomerang project will show possibly one of Australia’s biggest, most ambitious and long running projects that could impact on the National economy for a long time to come.
The Roundup is well known for its broad scope on wide ranging and interesting subjects and this year is illustrated by presentations on Indigenous Women in Mining and the Cairns Port Authority dealing with shipping of product from the region.
The final presentation is the “Exploration Roundup” which is a brief summary of exploration activities by companies not actually presenting on the day”
