Register now to join the Tasmania Branch on Thursday 7th November for this opportunity for hard rock miners to learn about coal mining and processing in Tasmania.

Time: Tour 1 & 2 – 2:45pm for a 3:00pm Start

Technical Session – 5:30pm for a 6:00pm Start

Tour 1: Washery Tour
Fingal Operations,
Esk Highway, Fingal
Park in visitors Carpark and report to Site office to sign in.

Tour 2: Blackwood Operations – Cornwall
Turn off Esk Highway onto Cornwall Road

Tech Session:
St Marys Hotel
Main Street, St Marys

Members will be welcome to order and pay own food and drinks from the bar at St Marys Hotel.

Tour 1: Washery Tour – Fingal Operations

Tour 2: Blackwood Operations – Cornwall

Please note: Each tour is limited to 10 delegates.

Tech Session: St Marys Hotel
Keith Falconer will give a brief overview of Cornwall Coal Operations, who have been in operation in Fingal since 1886.


Important Event Information


PPE is required and please bring your own to ease burden at site.

Both tours will require a level of fitness, as delegates must be capable of walking up stairs/walkways on both tours.

There is unfortunately no disability access due to the nature of the active mine sites.

Both tours will be held during normal mine or washery operations so please respect the business and follow your guides instructions.

Site visits will require: Safety Boots, Hard Hat, Reflective Workwear and Safety glasses.

For those going underground – Safety Boots, Hard Hat, Reflective Workwear and Safety glasses. We also suggest reflective overalls or have a change of clothes.
