2020 Conferences and Events and the coronavirus

Delegate well-being is our top priority

AusIMM in conjunction with all 2020 Conference and Events committees are actively monitoring the situation regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus in Australia.

Australia is in a good position to respond to the outbreak of coronavirus from a medical point of view and our borders are at a heightened state of alert. At this point in time, there have been 52 confirmed cases in Australia and our alert status is Active. The Australian Government has issued a health alert as a precaution and their advice is for business to continue as usual.

For these reasons all conferences and events in the AusIMM calendar for 2020 will continue as planned.

The safety and wellbeing of all delegates, exhibitors and sponsors is of paramount importance and our top priority.

We are working very closely with venues across Australia to ensure your safety when onsite at a conference or event. We have put in place the following preventative measures:

  • Food service during the coffee and lunch breaks will be monitored by venue staff
  • Sanitising stations will be installed across all venues

We encourage all delegates, exhibitors and sponsors to practice good hygiene and if you have travelled from an affected area and feel unwell, we urge you to seek immediate medical advice.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take all necessary steps, in line with any changes in alert status from the Australian Government, to ensure your health is protected and all conferences and events are successfully delivered.
