25th Australasian Mining History Conference, 7-14 July 2019
This year's annual conference will be held in Far North Queensland at the Atherton International Club
The conference itself will be held on the 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th of July, with one day field trips to Mt Mulligan and Herberton and Irvinebank, and a two day trip to Chillagoe. Tour leaders include Peter Bell, who wrote the histories of the Mt Mulligan coal mine disaster and the Chillagoe Smelters, and Ruth Kerr, who has written histories of nearly every base metal mining field in the far north. The theme of the conference is “In the footsteps of John Moffat” but papers will be on a wide variety of topics.
AMHA members are a mix of academics, research students, and mining industry professionals (both current and retired) with an interest in any aspect of the history of mining and mining fields. We welcome paper and poster proposals from interested mining professionals (the deadline for abstracts is 1 June – please note the preferred form for the abstract on the website). Further details on the conference can be found here or by contacting Jan Wegner on Janice.Wegner@jcu.edu.au
