A successful year for AusIMM

This year, AusIMM has celebrated our remarkable 125 year history.

Our dedicated team of staff and office bearers has ensured that AusIMM continues to develop its external profile. We have modernised all aspects of the organisation, including streamlining member application processes, updating AusIMM’s branding and launching a new website. This has created a more personal and accessible online experience for members.

Celebrating our anniversary in 2018 provided a unique opportunity to showcase our heritage and the professionals who have shaped the resources sector and AusIMM. Our 125 website includes an interactive timeline, our ‘Reflections’ video, 125 faces, profiling past and present AUSIMM members, and the inaugural Thought Leadership Series held in 12 locations around Australia and New Zealand.

Each year AusIMM delivers world class technical conferences and publications to thousands of resources professionals. In 2018 we delivered ten exceptional conferences alongside our partnership roles in AGCC and IMARC.

2018 also saw the development of an Online Professional Certificate in JORC Code Reporting. This six-module course has been developed in partnership with regulators and industry and delivered by renowned experts. This initiative highlights AusIMM’s role as a parent body of the JORC Code and a leader in professional standards in the resources sector.

The Council for Diversity and Inclusion was established in 2018 to bring attention to the opportunities for AusIMM and industry to better represent the 65,000 professionals working in the resource sector.

Partnering with leading organisations in our anniversary year allowed AusIMM to develop a greater reach than ever before. Support from 125 Anniversary signature partners Monash University, PwC, Qantas and Rio Tinto demonstrated AusIMM’s increased engagement with industry stakeholders.

Throughout 2018, AusIMM has continued to develop its position as the trusted voice of our professional community. We have increased our social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin and engaged further with media and government to represent professionals in the sector.

AusIMM’s Year in Review document reflects on our key achievements in 2018. It also outlines our key focus areas for 2019 as we continue to implement our Future Directions Strategy. In 2019 AusIMM will continue to focus on building our brand and reputation internationally while leveraging our position as a leader in upholding professional standards. We will also continue to focus on improvements to the online experience for our members and customers while cementing our position as the trusted voice of Resource Professionals.
