How Virtual Reality is Used in the Mining Industry

The AusIMM Southern Queensland Branch invites you to attend a Test Run and Technical Talk by Rohan Koenig – Immersive Digital Solutions Lead, GHD, on Thursday 21 March.

Virtual Reality in mining can provide benefits the design to operational of the site. It can be a powerful tool for integrating disparate data sources and communicating information:

  • Digital Ecosystem – New projects under design and construction
  • Digital Twins – integration of data into immersive models
  • Training – Underground where the trainee can experience underground conditions in a safe environment

Rohan will include a technical talk on real underground simulations done for a Vale coal operation and provide a test run using the virtual reality system. Examples of what can be done are covered in the link below:
