The presentation explores the role technology plays in the process of risk management and decision making in blasting.
It discusses how the integration of electronics, communication and data management in explosive products and services contribute to better risk management and better decisions, improving safety and security for all stakeholders.
It examines two practical applications of integrating available commercial technology in electronic initiation to make blasting safer.
About the Speaker:
Johan Hawinkel holds a bachelor's degree in mining and Geotechnical Engineering from the KU Leuven, Belgium, and a master's degree in Applied Earth Science specializing in Resource Engineering, from TU Delft in The Netherlands. Member of AusIMM since 2018. Several years of experience in technical and technical-commercial roles for explosive supply and rock fragmentation services in the blasting and mining industry in Latin America and North America, with a strong focus on the benefits and value of electronic initiation. Complemented his commitment to Engineering Science with a post-grad in Marketing and Sales at the Universidad Adolfo Ibanez in Chile to better support customers in their quest for value through blasting. Now Australia based and happy Perth resident for over a year and employed by Davey Bickford Enaex Australia as Mining Engineer – Key Account Manager helping large Pilbara Iron Ore operations to get the best possible blasting results through the smart use of technology.
