Please come and join Jason Hodge, Principal Mining Engineer for OceanaGold (Philippines) Inc. as he presents the innovations employed for “Crown Pillar Strengthening and Extraction” at the Didipio Gold mine.
Jason graduated from The University of Adelaide in 2012 and has since gained a wide range of experience in sub-level open stoping and narrow vein, in addition to a brief stint in block caving. Having started out at the Argyle Diamond mine, Jason experienced the full brunt of the mining cycle, enduring a redundancy after 6 months. This opened up opportunities for Jason back in Adelaide, where he worked in mine planning at Prominent Hill for 3.5 years, before exploring the wonderful world of consulting for 12 months. His latest venture has taken him overseas to the Philippines. His current role at the Didipio Gold mine has exposed him to the challenges of mining in foreign nations and the innovations required to overcome them.
Prior to Jason’s talk we will hear from Max Donaldson, a fourth year student at the University of Adelaide who is studying a double degree in chemical engineering and chemistry on his talk titled ‘A Novel Collector for Increased Value During the Flotation of a High Pyrite Ore’. Max enjoys getting involved with student society groups including the local AusIMM chapter, and is the 2019 AusIMM Sir Frank Espie/Rio Tinto Scholarship winner.
Please join us for what is to be another great event and to hear about some of the challenging and exciting work Jason has been involved in since starting in the Philippines.
