The Far North Queensland branch would like to remind you to register for a lecture with guest speaker Dr Peter Ridd.
In this talk Dr Ridd will go over the supposed threats to the reef from agriculture, port dredging, pollution, and climate change and demonstrate how most are greatly exaggerated. He will then look at the quality assurance systems used by our science institutions and demonstrate how they are hopelessly deficient for producing reliable scientific results. As this flawed “science” is being used to impose new government legislation that is affecting virtually every major industry in North Queensland, Dr Ridd will propose a solution of how we can make GBR-science reliable again.
Dr Peter Ridd was dismissed from the James Cook University for not adhering to contractual conditions of his employment. He had differing views on the veracity of the research being conducted on the Great Barrier Reef to others in the University. He contested his dismissal in the Federal Court, where Vasta J found that the University was wrong on each of the 17 reasons given for Ridd’s dismissal. He reserved sentencing.
