MOU signed to strengthen industry collaboration between Australia and Indonesia
AusIMM has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Association of Exploration and Mining Development Indonesia (EMD).
As part of the MOU, EMD and AusIMM agrees to work together to develop the exploration and mining community, exchange knowledge and information for both organisations’ members and to assist in implementing programs that will benefit both countries mining & resource professionals.
Both organisations recognise the long history of mining in Australasia, the strong relationship and mutual respect between resources professionals of Australasia and Indonesia, and the considerable advantage of having consistent and good practice mining industry practices and standards between Australasia and Indonesia.
With our goals aligned, the partnership aims to boost mining professionalism through resource and reserve estimation and reporting standards, membership qualifications and standards.
AusIMM and EMD’s partnership has been strengthened by the recent appointment of Myke Jones as AusIMM’s International Representative in Indonesia, who is also a Director of EMD. Myke’s years of experience working in both Australia and Indonesia and his involvement with organisations like EMD will help progress AusIMM’s strategy to be a professional home for mining professionals in Australasia.
AusIMM CEO Stephen Durkin signed the MOU on the 8th of October 2019 as part of his visit to Jakarta to meet with Myke, other AusIMM members and stakeholders. Indonesia is home to one of AusIMM’s largest international groups, and AusIMM is committed to providing more professional development opportunities through partnerships like the one with EMD.
