Due to the retirement of one of the Trustees of the New Zealand Branch Education Endowment Trust (EET), applications are now open for this unique governance role.

About the EET

The EET was initiated by Members of the NZ Branch of the AusIMM in 1995 and is registered as a Charity with the New Zealand Charities Commission. The purpose and governing parameters of the EET are set out in our Trust Deed (1998) and Deed of Variance (2018). The EET’s principle activities involve the award of educational scholarships to tertiary students undertaking scientific research considered to be of value to the minerals industry. The EET is also able to provide funding to organisations for other minerals-related educational/training activities where these fall within the parameters of the (varied) Trust Deed.

Since the EET’s inception there have been 98 scholarships awarded to students at New Zealand universities. Further information on the EET, including our Trust Deed and Deed of Variance, can be found at http://www.ausimm.co.nz/scholarships/

The Role of Trustee

You will work with the existing Trustees as part of the governance team. The Board of Trustees typically meets 2 – 3 times per year including a key meeting to award scholarship applications. The role of Trustee is an unpaid not-for-profit role that provides an exciting governance opportunity. You will be part of the team helping to make a difference to the New Zealand Minerals Industry through promoting research, funding scholarships to students and enhancing the profile of the industry with tertiary institutions.

Whilst there is no fixed term for the role of Trustee there is a general expectation of a 3 year term with potential for renewal for a further 3 years maximum.

Application Process and Deadline

Applications are only open to members of the New Zealand Branch of the AusIMM and will be subject to approval of the existing Trustees of the EET. Preference will be given to members who are based in New Zealand and are able to demonstrate the passion, skills and ability to perform the role and compliment the current Trustees.

If you would like to apply to become a Trustee and Secretary of the EET please forward a covering letter and your CV through to the Secretary of the EET by email: vhbull@tenements.co.nz no later than 5pm Friday 29th November 2019. All applications will be treated with the strictest confidence.

It is envisaged that the new Trustee would be appointed no later than 30 January 2020.
