One Month To Go: Kalgoorlie Metallurgical Symposium – MetFest 2019

Registrations have now opened for the 2019 Kalgoorlie Metallurgical Symposium (MetFest) and associated events in Kalgoorlie during the week, Monday 4th – Friday 8th November 2019.

The AusIMM Kalgoorlie Branch, in collaboration with our many sponsors and partners, are proud to host the 2019 Kalgoorlie Metallurgical Symposium (MetFest) and associated events in Kalgoorlie during the week, Monday 4th – Friday 8th November 2019.

MetFest is a week-long event full of activities including Plant Tours, Training and Professional Development Opportunities, a friendly Golf Tournament, the Metallurgical Symposium, and will be concluded by the semi‑formal Northern Star Resources MetFest Gala Dinner.

The main event – the MetFest Symposium – will involve local processing professionals presenting on topics covering ore sorting, mineral processing, metallurgical extraction and up-stream processing. This will be a great opportunity for all processing personnel (including operators and students) to network with other processing professionals.

The 2019 MetFest and associated events are open to all processing and non-processing personnel, including the general community. Anyone interested in attending any of the events listed below are encouraged to register their attendance. Some activities will have an associated attendance fee.


 

Plant Tours – Monday 4th November

 

The 2019 Kalgoorlie MetFest opens with two optional Plant Tours, on Monday 4th November.

Plant Tour to Northern Star, Kanowna Belle Process Plant
  • 08:30 = Pick up at the WMC Conference Centre (44 MacDonald Street, Kalgoorlie)
  • 09:00 = Arrival at site (eg Northern Star)
  • 09:15 – 09:45 = Inductions
  • 09:45 – 11:15 = Plant Tour
  • 11:45 = Arrive back at WMC Conference Centre
Plant Tour to BHP Nickel Smelter
  • 13:00 = Pick up at WMC Conference Centre (44 MacDonald Street, Kalgoorlie)
  • 13:30 = Arrival at site (eg BHP)
  • 13:45 – 14:15 = Inductions
  • 14:30 – 16:00 = Plant Tour
  • 16:30 = Arrive back at WMC Conference Centre

Please note:

  • Each Tour is limited to the first twelve (12) people per tour to register
  • Normal site PPE is required (Steel cap Boots, Long sleeve Shirts, Jeans/Trousers, Safety Glasses and Helmets).
  • You will be required to complete inductions and may be asked to participate in Drug & Alcohol Testing.
  • Tour 2 – All attendees will need to be clean shaven, no facial hair. No Synthetic Clothes.

Golf Tournament – Tuesday 5th November

 

Bureau Veritas is proud to provide an optional Golf Tournament that will be held on Tuesday 5th November at the Kalgoorlie Golf Course.
This event will be an excellent opportunity to network with local metallurgists and mineral processing personnel, play some golf, and enjoy Melbourne Cup Day.

Please bring your own clubs if you have some, otherwise club hire can be arranged on the day at your own cost. BBQ lunch is included.

Further information will be sent to those that register.

Tee off will be at 8:30 am.

Workshops – Tuesday 5th – Thursday 7th November

 

The AusIMM Kalgoorlie Branch and its partners have arranged for a variety of professional development and training workshops to be held over three days. Each course is run independently by the training provider. Click on the hyperlinks to be directed to their website or contact for further details.

Course registration and payment of any course fees are to be arranged with the training provider.

Note that some workshops will overlap.


 

Metallurgical Symposium (MetFest) – Friday 8th November

 

Proudly sponsored by Evolution Mining, this full-day event will comprise of presentations from local processing professionals and other industry representatives.

Local processing personnel will share ideas and outcomes from metallurgical based projects, the issues and challenges being experienced, as well as future opportunities and advancements in technology.
