Join the South West WA Branch on Thursday 18 July to hear from guest speaker Chris Lane on the topic of:
“Dry Stacked Tailings; An Overview.”
This presentation will provide some details on where dry stacking has been implemented and what needs to be considered in the assessment of the dry stacking of tailings option as an alternative to wet tailings deposition.
The presentation will take into account the latest technology in respect of a number of TSF Options, with examples and pros/cons to option selection.
Discussion will also cover aspects of the recent failure in Brazil.
Chris Lane is the Principal Consultant at L&MGSPL, an international advisory company on tailings management. Chris has Bachelor degree in Applied Science (Canberra University 1975) and an MBA (AGSM 2002). He has a wide variety of geotechnical experience with tailings storage facilities (TSF) covering a period of more than 30 years. He has a wide range of experience, both in Australia and overseas.
His involvement with TSFs covers aspects of design, construction, auditing and tailings management reviews for a large number of projects covering a range of commodities including: alumina residue, bauxite residue, base metals (copper, lead and zinc), coal, graphite, gold, iron ore, magnetite, manganese, nickel (sulphide and laterite), phosphate residue, rare earth residues, uranium and vanadium. He has a major interest in-pit tailings storage integrated waste landforms and the developing field of dry stacked tailings.
