Recent developments in minerals processing approaches and technologies are delivering step-change and incremental improvements to the way we extract and process the world’s resources. These new approaches are enabling the mining industry to combat challenges that include reduced head grades, complex metallurgy, volatile commodity markets and social licensing.
This webinar is the first in a series of webinars hosted by AusIMM’s valued partner Ausenco that explore and present solutions to minerals processing challenges through lifecycle of brownfield and greenfield projects. Grant Ballantyne will explain how pre-concentration can be used to improve the economics of operations, reduce tailings liabilities, and improve water conservation. Tim Vizcarra will explain how geometallurgy is a tool that can not only be used to improve the performance of existing assets but improve process plant designs. And Rajiv Chandramohan will explore how existing operations and new projects are adopting using smarter process control and optimisation solutions to achieve quick returns on their investment.
If you would like to receive communications on the upcoming webinars in the series, register your interest through Ausenco using this link.
Greg Lane, Chief Technical Officer, Ausenco
Greg is a global leader in the fields of project development, comminution and concentrator design and in his role as Chief Technical Officer, manages the programs at Ausenco that underpin our ability to provide ingenious solutions that redefine what’s possible for minerals processing.
Greg is a member of the Ausenco Leadership Team and provides technical guidance for our Global Practice Leads. He works with our technical and engineering staff across the business to maintain an environment that drives continuous improvement, innovation and technical expertise. Greg is the author of more than 40 publications on different aspects of minerals processing and project development, and is a highly sought after technical expert and a world leader in cost effective plant design.
Grant Ballantyne, Global Director Technical Solutions, Ausenco
Grant has over 10 years’ mineral processing engineering experience in design, optimisation, operation, research, and development. He is a passionate mineral processing engineer that enjoys implementing process improvements by applying fundamental understanding to industrial problems.
Grant has been involved in successful site-based industry research over the past ten years covering five continents and eight commodities. At Ausenco, Grant co-ordinates the comminution group including the assessment of new technologies and flowsheets. He also provides input at the front-end of engineering design projects, consults into operations, and assesses the application of enhanced process technologies such as coarse particle flotation and bulk ore sorting.
He was awarded the Minerals Engineering International Young Person of the Year at the MEI Comminution ’18 Conference in Cape Town in 2017, and the 2020 Coalition for Energy Efficiency Comminution (CEEC) Medal for technical research.
Tim Vizcarra, Technical Consultant, Ausenco
Tim has 10 years’ experience in mineral processing optimisation. He joined Ausenco’s Technical Solutions team in 2020, where he has been involved with operations support, de-bottlenecking studies, and the assessment of enhanced process technologies in greenfield applications.
Prior to joining Ausenco, he worked for JKTech for almost a decade where he specialised in the application of comminution models in greenfield, Mine-to-Mill, and other process-improvement initiatives. Other key interests include flotation modelling, process mineralogy, and the use of statistical methods to make sense of production and geometallurgical data.
Rajiv Chandramohan, Global Technical Director – Operations Optimisation, Ausenco
Rajiv has more than 17 years’ experience in operations, mineral processing research, comminution, materials handling, metallurgical testing and numerical and process simulations. He has developed a wide range of novel technologies applicable to the mining industry. Rajiv has worked and consulted on several global projects and operating mining sites ranging from design to optimisation.
Rajiv’s broader skills are in mentoring and influencing engineering and operational teams achieve strategic growth. His breadth of knowledge in control, process, mechanical, electrical engineering and coordination skills are valuable assets to diagnose and resolve complex problems in engineering and operations.
Rajiv leads the global operational optimisation group, providing debottlenecking and operational optimisation services.
