The awards celebrate the diverse range of opportunities in mining and minerals processing, including engineering and apprenticeships. All finalists serve as ambassadors for women to consider a career in Tasmania’s increasingly diverse mining and processing sector,” he said.

The Women in Resources National Awards recognise individual achievement and company efforts to increase gender diversity across mining operations, within corporate offices and across the mining equipment, technology and services sector.

“A diverse workforce is one where employees feel more engaged. Diversity leads to better discussions, decisions, productivity and outcomes for everyone,” said TMEC CEO, Mr Ray Mostogl.

“These awards recognise the skills of men and women who are making an important contribution to increasing diversity and inclusion in the resources industry around Tasmanian and Australia” he said.

The Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council (TMEC) delivered the 2020 Women in Resources Tasmania Awards in partnership with AusIMM Women in Mining Network Tasmania (WIMnet).

“The awards provide important recognition for the contribution women are making locally, but also for the companies who employ, support and provide career opportunities for our inspiring women,” Mr Mostogl said.

The Women in Resources National Awards ceremony will be broadcast on YouTube at 3.30 pm AEST 16 September 2020.
