WIMnet TAS – Women in Resources Tasmania Awards – Live Stream
2020 Women in Resources Tasmania Awards
Finalists across four categories in the 2020 Women in Resources Tasmania Awards, recognising the contributions and achievements of women in the State’s resources, mining and manufacturing industries, will meet in Launceston on Thursday 30 July 2020 where the winners will be announced.
The annual awards are coordinated by the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council (TMEC) in conjunction with the AusIMM Women in Mining Network Tasmania (WIMnet) to create awareness of the inspirational women working in resources and encourage other women to pursue careers in these Tasmanian industries.
While COVID-19 restrictions have had an impact on the awards timeline and delivery, “In these uncertain times, we are thrilled to be able to hold the awards ceremony for the 2020 awards, albeit on a slightly smaller scale than in past years” Ray Mostogl, TMEC CEO said. “It is important that these outstanding men and women have the opportunity to be acknowledged before their family and peers and are given the recognition that they deserve for the work that they are doing to break down barriers to inclusion and diversity in the workplace.”
When looking forward, Mr Mostogl noted “I look forward to a time when awards like these are no longer required, as the practices that they support and endorse will be part of our normal business practices and will not be remarkable. Our industry sector is working towards a target participation rate of 20% women, and at this stage still have some work to do.”
For the first time, the awards ceremony will be livestreamed to the TMEC Facebook page during the event. This will allow the finalists’ family, friends and colleagues to watch the announcement of each of the award winners in real time.
Streaming of the awards ceremony will commence at 1.00 pm on Thursday 30 July 2020 on the Tasmanian Mining, Manufacturing and Energy Facebook page.
