Women in Mining Network SA’s December Event

On the 12th of December on a warm evening at Roxby Downs, a joint event between Wimnet SA, New Professionals Network, and Roxby Downs branch kicked off.

There were a number of different professionals ranging from metallurgists, geologists, and engineers to IT professionals, environmentalists, consultants and those who were brand new to industry. It was a relaxed environment where experienced long-time industry players networked with interns, graduates, and those who were interested in the resource industry in general.

There was an incredible amount of diversity in thinking and backgrounds and everyone had pizza, drinks, conversation, and a round of bowls, (some for their first time!). During the event we discussed the importance of professional memberships and BHP’s support of professional development and encouragement of networking and PD through Chartered Programs like that of AusIMM.

There was great feedback on the event, and some incredible turnout of over 70 people. It was a great way to finish the year and a very successful event.
