This earlier edition of the current Monograph 28 is still a valuable resource. The two 800 page cloth-bound hard-cover A4 volumes give an outstanding source of information on the Australasian mineral industry. They contain some 416 articles on current (1992) practice in underground and open cut mining ore processing by flotation hydrometallurgy and gravity concentration smelting and semi-fabrication at all major mines and plants in Australia New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Production of all major metals is described as well as minor metals mineral sands industrial minerals gems and coal. In addition there are articles on the industry background general practices environmental protection education research and production statistics. A detailed table of contents and a comprehensive index to both volumes are included in each volume.
