The 12th AusIMM Mill Operators' Conference was held in Townsville, Queensland, home to three metals refineries (zinc, copper and nickel) and a hub for drive-in, drive-out and fly-in fly-out to numerous mines throughout north and north-west Queensland. The theme of the conference was Doing More with Less'. Over three days, more than 50 papers were presented covering the
following topics: continuous improvement, energy reduction, flotation, future trends, grinding, methodologies, process control, process management, specific improvements and technology applications. Additionally, four keynote speakers each covered a different aspect of Doing More With Less' - automation, process improvement, and past, present and future trends.
