Evaluation of Techniques of Pillar Extraction in Thick Coal Seams and Possible Developments in India
Traditional techniques for extracting pillars in thick underground coal seams in India are reviewed. Problems encountered are principally control of roof strata and low recovery. Recently developed mechanized methods and projected newer techniques are discussed.
