Natural gas from the south west Queensland gas fields is now available in north west Queensland to fuel the development of many Carpentaria Mineral Province projects. Like these projects, the south west Queensland gas project, developed under the operatorship of Santos Ltd, has its own Mining Cycle'. While the project is entering its third expansion phase, it is at the same time actively extending its discovery phase, with large programs of gas exploration and reserves definition._x000D_
This paper outlines the history of the south west Queensland gas project, with particular emphasis on the relationship of the project to north west Queensland.
