Rolling Mills finishing Processes Analysis

Steel rolling mill product finishing pro cesses gradually become or often already are unsuited for current production and marketing conditions. Indications are made as to what has been done to (i) rectify situations of this kind and, (ii) to reduce both product finishing time and costs. The principal features of two separate case studies are reviewed, these being (a) the finishing-end of B.H.P.'s Newcastle o.2 Merchant Mill and, (b) a mixed functions finishing yard and warehouses group (known as he Merchant Mills Loading Yard) which has been perating for a number of years. The areas in ach case are identified as a system while the arious functions, principal product streams nd processing equipment are respectively iden- ified as sub-systems and system elements._x000D_
