In recent years a large number of Horizontal Belt Filters have been installed in the Australian mining and chemical industries._x000D_
This paper deals briefly with the general background and advantages leading to the selection of this type of filter. Several different applications are described and particular reference is given to the simplification of the fines treatment circuit at the South Bulli Coal Washery.
